Færgen A/S is managing the rute
between Køge and Rønne (Bornholm)
- The rute is sailed with a ro/pax ferry every day of the week
- A considerable amount of the freight to and from Bornholm is handled at the port
- You can deliver a container to and from Bornholm using the “Loose Container solution”
Since 2002 the port of Køge has functioned as a port for ferries. Færgen A/S is managing the daily operations between Køge and Rønne (the port city of Bornholm), which consists of goods- and passenger ferries. The rute is sailed by a ro/pax ferry called M/S Hammerodde and the total travel time is 5½ hours. The ferry sails every day of the week.
Most of the cargo to and from Bornholm is being freighted over the route between Rønne and Køge. The development of the cargo amount can be seen here:
The figure shows an increase of amounts of cargo carried by ferry through the first couple of years on the rute. During the economic crisis this number fell, but rose again from 2010 to 2013. In 2013 the ferry carried more than 400.000 tons on the rute. The traffic from Bornholm has without doubt contributed to a considerable part of the harbors positive development.
Loose container solution
The cargo companies can place their container to be freighted to and from Bornholm, and the Ferrie will manage the goods. This means that the driver doesn’t have to travel with the container on the rute, which saves time and money for the company hiring the driver. It is possible to place your container within a certain time frame, which enhances the possibility and flexibility of the transport.
Færgen A/S takes a handling fee for this.
